► Neutral is always good (Нейтральные предложения)
Предлагая что-либо, вы можете быть более или менее настойчивыми. Нейтральный вариант предложения уместен в любой ситуации.
• How about / what about — «как насчет...?» При этом выражение what about обычно употребляется при указании на проблему — таким образом мы просим собеседника предложить решение.
Примеры:
How about we have lunch at «Paul»? — With great pleasure!
How about discussing this issue with James and Eleanor? They certainly need to know the details. — It's a good idea!
How about a cup of coffee? — I'd love to!
How about going to the theatre tonight? – I love the idea, but what about the children? — Don't worry, I will call a babysitter.
•Why not / why don't — «почему бы не...?» При этом выражение why not не требует подлежащего и используется для «теоретического» предложения.

• Let's / Let's not — «давайте...» / «давайте не...»

• Couldn't you / can't you — «не могли бы вы...?»
Примеры:
I need to submit the report tomorrow, but there are so many other tasks to be done today! — Couldn't you finish this report tomorrow morning?
What I really need is a new desk! — Can't you use the desk in Jane's office?

• I thought we might / could — «я думал, мы можем...?»

• You could always / you could — «вы всегда можете...» / «вы могли бы…»

В значении «смотреть на что-либо» глагол look употребляется с послелогом at. Однако в значении «присмотреться к чему-то, детально изучить (чтобы улучшить)» и «зависеть от кого-либо (его решений, советов)» глагол look употребляется с послелогом to.
